Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: HABITAT edge of oak forest on ridge at top of road cut high on north slope; SUBSTRATE Quercus chrysolepis trunk; ASPECT mostly open; NOTES gray subsquamulose thick crust, sessile apothecia, disk black epruinose, rim very thick prominent thalline smooth, epihymenium brown POL-, hymenium hyaline POL-, hypothecium hyaline POL-, medulla POL+ weak; SPORES 8 per ascus, ~30-32 × 15-16, developing thickening at tips just prior to septum formation and retaining them, smooth, cells swelling when brown and overmature.

Somewhere between R. oregana and R. badiexcipula. Only the latter is known from southern California.
