Notes: HABITAT shady oak forest in hollow on north slope; SUBSTRATE Quercus chrysolepis bark; ASPECT shaded; NOTES thin pale green-gray crust, K- C- KC- UV- 350nm, large black sessile apothecia, disk epruinose and mostly flat, rim well-developed shiny smooth even, epihymenium bluish-black POL-, hymenium hyaline, hypothecium rich red-brown POL-, exciple with large rounded elongate radiating cells colored like epihymenium POL-, paraphyses simple barely expanded at tips; SPORES 8 per ascus, hyaline, simple, ellipsoid, 10-13 × 6-8 µm.
