HABITAT shady oak forest on north slope; SUBSTRATE granitic boulder by trail; ASPECT shaded; NOTES crust contiguous rimose areolate dark brownish-gray with flat irregular areoles, K-, apothecia small irregular black several per areole with faint white rim, epihymenium olive-brown turning brown in K, paraphyses 3-4 cells swollen, spores 8 per ascus 20-25 × 12-15 µm, conidia 9-15 µm averaging 12 µm.
