Observation 105193: Boletus pallidus Frost
When: 2012-08-12
No herbarium specimen

Notes: I am stumped by this generic-looking collection of boletes. No staining/bruising aside from a bit of darkening on the scratched pores.

KOH: cap orange; cap context negative; pores slightly pale orange; stipe and stipe context negative.

Fruit bodies to immature to get a spore drop.

I think it varies with the age of the mushroom. Growing nearby this collection, there were mature B. pallidus which showed the grayish blue bruising on the pores.
