Recognized by sight: Make sure in the future to take images of the underside of polypores such as these. Distinguishing Stereum(which does not have visible pores and is paper thin) from Trametes(turkey tail-does have distinctly visible pores) is only possible for yourself and others when that information is presented. This is most likely S.ostrea. I’ve found lots in the South and Midwest this time of year.
