Recognized by sight: The ropey rhizomorphic attachment to the substrate is rather distinctive for some species of Scleroderma. Thanks for digging it up, as the basal attachment breaks pretty easily. If I had to guess, I’d go with S. citrinum for the light scales on the pileus, plus the developing yellowish coloration which should become more citrine when mature.
