OK, based on your word more than the photo, I can consider it likely to be as you said.
One major difference I’ve noticed is the taste is much different in amerirubescens than flavorubens. Have you tasted both in general (I’m not just talking about this example now)?
Your comment is reasonable. It was less yellow than typical A. flavorubens and it stained stronger reddish. Also (and I know this is no help) I have observed both species in all there variations for many years.
What? This can’t be A. flavorubens? People are so certain it is A. amerirubescens, so I’ll have to ask how so much certainty?
