Recognized by sight: Dull reddish-brown cap when young, becoming orange-brown. Bright yellow pores, yellow stipe blushing reddish from the base up. All parts staining instantly deep blue to blue-black
Based on chemical features: KOH dark brown on cap, orange on flesh.

was in a mossy-grassy area under Red Oak. A similar one out right now under hemlock is Boletus speciosus var. brunneus

I think we found something like these recently under hemlock mixed with young maples???
