Useful habitat to learn

Near the base of small shrubs in the subalpine, and also on bare wood of old pine logs. These are locations which are under snow until mid to late spring. Dominated by Parmeliopsis hyperopta (white) and Parmeliopsis ambigua (somewhat more yellowish-greenish than white) and Vulpicida pinastri (bright yellow). Also found here are Cetraria sepincola and Cetraria subalpina (North America only, maybe).
