When: 2012-08-23

Collection location: Griffey Lake, Bloomington, Indiana, USA [Click for map]

Who: Stephen Russell (Mycota)

No specimen available

My understanding between the two. A comparison of the radiating fibers on the cap. A. ravenelii has them. A. rhopalopus has none.

it is back to the drawing board…

I just need to find A. rhopalopus for a better comparison.

There are radial lines in both images.

In the upper image, there are fibrils radiating from the bases of the warts. In the lower picture the line are radiating from the center of the cap. I’m sorry if I’ve misled anyone concerning the direction of the radiating lines.

I am not sure what species is represented in the lower image. The top image fits my concept of Amanita ravenelii.

I regret any confusion over the concept of “radial.”
