Observation 107115: Leprocaulon microscopicum (Vill.) Gams
When: 2012-07-28
Who: zaca
No herbarium specimen

Notes: This comes in the sequel of observation 107030 where Jason proposed the name Leprocaulon microscopicum for that specimen. I knew that had already observed such species and attach the photos of it.
Comparing with that observation the thallus seems to be more yellowish/green. According to the British Flora the spot tests should be all negative, though some yellowish tones seems to appear mainly in K and KC.

Always learning with you. Thanks.

Distinctive genus, isn’t it?

I thought it was a weird kind of Lepraria first time I saw it, too. :) Other lichenologists have placed it in Stereocaulon, which is actually closer, at least, phylogenetically speaking.
