HABITAT dry hardwood forest on south-facing slopes of cove; SUBSTRATE Acer bark; ASPECT mostly open; NOTES on TT before turn-off to clearcut, on maple trunk at head-height, among mountain laurels; THALLUS large conspic pseudocyphellae above but not below, v few short pale stubby rhizines, black in center below, K+y, C-, KC- (red through pseudocyphellae); MEDULLA K-, C-, KC+ violet immediately red fading slowly to pale orangish.
