this appears to be Hydnum repandum, aka (to some of older guys) Dentinum repandum.

I see now that Dentinum has been deprecated to Hydnum.

Is the specimen very hard? Or is it quite mushroom-like: easy to tear and cut with a knife? If the former, then Hydnum. If the later, then Dentinum more likely.
