this species occurs all the way up to Alaska.

and was already quite well known in CA and i am sure elsewhere in the west, under its past two latin names, aspera and franchetii.

Amanita augusta is correct ID based on ITS DNA match.

Specimen UBC F27973. Before Bojantchev & R.M. Davis described this beautiful species in 2013, specimens from western Canada were consistently identified as A. franchetii.
