Observation 108707: Tricholoma (Fr.) Staude
When: 2012-09-02
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: This mushroom was found at approx. 7000 ft. in a mixed conifer forest. There were no mature specimens. The gills of the larger of the two mushrooms were a light tan. No spore print was obtained after a 12 hour attempt. The odor was pleasant, like the odor of uncovered duff—fresh, not like mildew. The taste was farinaceous.

Two of the possibilities proposed on MT are T. sejunctum, and T. saponacium, but the taste is definately not soapy which seems to eliminate sponaceum, since the taste seems to be a prominant feature.
