Observation 10921: Russula Pers.

When: 2008-08-29

Collection location: Saint Martins, New Brunswick, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Very distinctive and pretty coloration, with a dark burgundy shading to purple in the center. These smallish Russulas were found here and there in Acadian forest, each one solitary. Gills and stem are a stark contrast, very white except for the aged specimens in the last photos.

Two out of three were in moss.
