Observation 109215: Leccinum Gray

In addition to the gray staining of the cut context, which darkened over time, there was blue-green bruising on the stipe base. Found in mixed woods with plenty of birch.

Pore surface turned quickly and prominently reddsih brown in KOH.

B/R/B describes the cap surface for L. atrostipitatum…

as “…fibrillose, breaking up to form downy patches or small scales in age.” I believe this sort of tendency may be seen here, especially in the middle part of the cap.

Doesn’t seem to have enough squabbles
