Observation 109217: Leccinum holopus (Rostk.) Watling

When: 2012-09-07

Collection location: Hickory Run State Park, Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dave W (Dave W)

No specimen available

At first I thought this was an example of L. albellum. But the bright blue staining of the stipe context does not fit this species.

I had considered holopus, but B/R/B did not mention the bluing of the stipe context. IMO, staining reactions can be variable for some species of Leccinum.
