Elk Meadows is a popular hike (http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=1119563) in the Mount Hood Wilderness, where we’re not allowed to collect.
The weather has been dry as you know, but we found about a dozen species along the Perimeter Trail, at elevation ~5200 feet. These rainbow chanterelles were growing in a small wooded area, where there were spruces, true firs, Doug firs, and even a few young pines.

Nice find Sava

Do you remember the elevation and type of pine/fir?
