Most probably on beech, as if comes from a mainly beech forest.

Which host tree?

There are just a few red Hypoxylon species in Central Europe. If this was on beech it is 100% Hypoxylon fragiforme. If on other deciduous trees (like oak, chestnut, hornbeam) it is most probably Hypoxylon howeanum.
