Summary: I appreciate

You posting gyms to ID! So many species are separated on features that disappear/ appear in maturity or simply aren’t visible to the un-aided eye.

I’ve never seen a picture of this particular Gymnopilus, whichever it is. That makes this obs priceless IMO. It would be a damn shame if it didn’t get to species!

Summary: I appreciate

the proposals even if I don’t agree.

Even though I’m sitting here with Hesler’s monograph right now, I’d say you guys are more familiar with the literature and more interested in Gyms. I didn’t record enough info for me to make a solid guess. I haven’t played with Gym taxonomy too much yet.

Summary: The

Gill color and gestalt of humicola seemed to fit pretty well, but the habitat is highly unlikely based on the description.

Why are Rich and I the only ones proposing species here? You guys all have the same literature.
A closer look at the pileus and descriptions of the context/ staining might help to narrow this down.
