Observation 11020: Phyllotopsis nidulans (Pers.) Singer

When: 2008-09-07

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Nifty little gilled bracket fungi growing profusely from the end of a pine log in damp pine woods.

First four photos taken on Sept. 7. The fifth was taken on the tenth and better represents the colors of the caps (improved use of the camera flash). The sixth was taken on the fifteenth and shows that they’ve expanded somewhat, and is another view of the nifty gills on the undersides of these fungi.
