Collected in well-manicured lawn under Quercus palustris, which may be the mycorrhizal host. Cap: 5-6cm wide, scalloped, irregular. Gills slightly amethyst-colored. Aroma pleasant. Stipe short, bent under weight of cap, ruby-red to pinkish-red near cap, enlarging near the cap.
