Hurrying back to the vehicle from the rain I noticed these growing on a moss covered stump. I couldn’t resist the shiny, wet caps. I did “plant” the one with the closed cap to bring them closer together for the photo.

I find a fair amount of mycorrhizal mushrooms fruiting from or near logs and stumps. I think it’s because they act as moisture reservoirs.
