Observation 110920: Oligoporus Bref.

When: 2012-09-23

Collection location: Suson Park, St. Louis Co., Missouri, USA [Click for map]

Who: weed lady (Sylvia )

No specimen available

This fungus was growing at the base of a living tree (Quercus sp.) It does have pores, so this is my only guess as to what it could be. It is extremely dense and has white flesh inside.

Thank you myxomop for the suggestion. I understand now why I should be using Polyporales instead of Polyporaceae. I am new and can use any help I can get.
