Observation 1120: Polyporus leptocephalus (Jacq.) Fr.
When: 2006-11-25
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Identified by sight.

Location:
N 40d 00m
W 123d 55m
Elevation 1000’-1100’

The specimen was collected as part of a class I taught for the Sanctuary Forest. Overall it was very poor collecting in the Briceland area this year. I believe the reason was an early cold snap which shutdown most of the mycorhizal species. This list are species that were actually found in the Sanctuary Forest. There is a separate list for specimens that were brought to the class for identification.

Used references: Preferred synonym according to Index Fungorum. MycoBank prefers P. varius. However, given Irene’s comment on the P. elegans page, I’m going with P. leptocephalus at least for now.
