Observation 112021: Mycena singeri Lodge

When: 2012-09-10

Collection location: Agüita Fría, San Andrés Tlalnehuayocan, Veracruz, Mexico [Click for map]

1522m

Who: Alan Rockefeller (Alan Rockefeller)

No specimen available

Notes:
A very small bioluminescent Mycena species on Liquidambar styraciflua logs.

Found near a river at 1522 meters elevation.

The bioluminescence is bright enough to clearly see the mushroom after the eyes have adjusted to the dark for a couple minutes. The 30 second exposures I took didn’t turn out very well, perhaps due to long exposure noise reduction settings on my camera. I have other long exposure photos of the same mushroom from the same place that turned out much better.
