Observation 112274: Trichoderma peltatum (Berk.) Samuels, Jaklitsch & Voglmayr

When: 2012-09-28

Collection location: Lower Meramec Park, St. Louis Co., Missouri, USA [Click for map]

Who: weed lady (Sylvia )

No specimen available

This was growing on the top of a decaying log. This was in a bottomland wooded area. Looking at the beneath of this specimen, after removing it carefully with a knife, nothing was revealed (pores, gills, etc.) Not able to obtain any spore color from the cut surface. I have VERY limited experience. Any help appreciated.

Thanks to you who looked at my observation. I had shown this to someone (who has seen a lot of fungi) I know in this area and he had no idea. Interesting that there is only one other observation of this species at this site. Don’t know if that makes it unusual or just overlooked.

Never heard of this, now trying to
