I first saw it on Arleen’s facebook, (and questioned it there as well). The overall color on these is too dark purple for purpurascens and there is no sign a veil on any of these (to my eye).

could be mold but I would think the larger fruitings would be infected too. I did not really examine them closely as Alan Bessette set up the photo. It is an area where I have found both species.

But do these? It looks like a secondary mold on the young ones, not a veil.

H.capreolaris does not have a partial veil.
