I think L. virens is strictly European (acc. to British Flora), and L. quercizans American (and eastern Asia, too — Jordan 1973.)

When I was preparing the material for these observations I had that doubt, since I found some photos of L. quercizans very similar to those of my specimen. However, I could not find any trace of this name in western Europe.

This really does look a lot like our green species in eastern North America. We used to call ours L. virens frequently, too (as well as L. erosa and a couple other things!) Now ours are all called L. quercizans and (in the south only) L. ravenelii. I wonder what the difference between L. quercizans and L. virens is.
