But regardless whether it is K+y or not, it doesn’t key out in Thomson’s flora. Either a bummer, or exciting. Your call. :)

Other sources…

Sonora Flora suggests: L. cavicola (bullate), L. brodoana (areolate, atranorin + usnic, punctate soralia) and L. umbrosa (areolate, just atranorin, soralia in round patches).

British Flora suggests: L. orosthea (yellow-green, usnic, soralia on margins of areoles), L. subaurea (usnic too), L. handelii (K- KC+y P-, soralia on margins of areoles), L. pannonica (verrucose areolate, soralia variable + blue-gray).

Yikes, lots of options. I think you definitely need chemistry to go farther…<
