Observation 113683: Hohenbuehelia Schulzer
When: 2012-10-17
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Growing from dead roots where I believe a hickory (C. cordiformis) once stood. Living bitternut hickories are still very nearby however.

At first I thought it was a Paxillus as they had grown from nearly that same spot before.

As for the quality of the photo, I must apologize as the observant eye will readily notice the misalignment of the gills thanks to too much movement during focus. Perhaps I will be able to remedy that once I become more skilled at Photoshop.
