scattered under hardwoods, especially oak; some pine present around a few of the several specimens, but not all

KOH on cap intensified the red, but did not turn purple, as would be expected with Cortinarius marylandensis

Cortina on stipe yellowish/orangish (note picture of large, upturned specimen)

faint odor of radishes

spores 6 – 8 x 4 – 5 um; elliptical, minutely roughened

(published spore sizes for C. harrisonii are 7 – 8 (8.5) x 4 – 5 um, ellipsoid to amygdaloid)
