The wooded area is an old stand of oak, hickory, and a dozen other hardwoods. There is several varieties of mushroom I’ve seen and if I get time I will collect more pictures on location. The photo shows acorns. This area has 6-8" of loam/mulch on the top. The brown chunk is acorn shells, leaves, and loam held together by the mycelium.

What is the dark brown stuff
