The DNA data obtained supports the diagnosis of that material as L. subillinita as was previously suspected.

According to Eduardo’s field observations and comments, the present observation probably illustrates the same species.

The illustrations show the white cap and striate cap margin that seem to be typical of the species.

Thank you for sharing the material with us, Eduardo.

Very best,

A species called Limacella subillinita was described from the Caribbean coast of Mexico. I believe it also can be found along the U.S. coast of the Gulf of Mexico. This might be what you have collected.

We are in the process of studying several collections that may be L. subillinita. Also, we have the type collection of subillinita as a loan from the New York Botanical Garden. It will take a little while, but we hope to have a better understanding of L. subillinita and to compare it with your material.

Muchas gracias, Eduardo.

Att. Rod.

Estas fotos son de la coleccion de Limacella blanca que le envie de ultimo, la encontre en otro lugar, a unos 30 km. del primero, en la vereda de una autopista, en grama recien cortada, numerosos despues de la lluvia del dia anterior. Saludos.
