Purple cup in burnt area, there was a fire in the area (Lime kiln trail, Ottawa)a few months ago. Was growing somewhat under/in the lee of a burnt tree, visible on soild is charcoal from the brush fire.

Peziza violacea Pers. is an old name which designates all the violaceous species growing on burned places… In the modern systematics, there are several names for this fungus: Peziza lobulata, P. tenacella, P. moseri, etc.
The differences between these species are given by their microscopic features.
