Observation 115090: Paxillus involutus group

When: 2012-10-31

Collection location: Ventura Park, Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)

No specimen available

A smaller clump of Paxillus involutus group found today.
Gingko biloba, the closest host tree, 4 feet distant from mushroom clump. I figured Gingko had to be mycorrhizal with something, but didn’t anticipate Paxillus.

Used references: Everything looks right except the host tree: Gingko. Other Paxillus found with nearby birch look identical. Am currently drying the collection. Spore source for cultivation. Before this observation, did not know this species also associated with Gingko biloba.
