Observation 11519: Rhizoplaca peltata (Ramond) Leuckert & Poelt

Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: I’ve never seen this before, but it looks to be significantly different than the other two common species in the area in that it is browner, smoother, distinctly nonpruinose, and the apothecia start out immersed. Since I only have one tiny specimen, I didn’t try the PPD test to verify.
