Images

278004
Button Agaricus large, nearly 4 inches in unopened state. Slight yellow tint to otherwise off-white cap.
278005
Detail of unopened annulus.
278006
Stipe is 5 inches or more tall.
278007
Close-up of stipe after fingernail scratch: no staining or color change.
278008
Exposed gills of an older Agaricus, likely the same species. This example of kicked over and stepped on. Still, dark purple-black spores and gills prove Agaricus if nothing else.
278009
Sorry, but very overcast and near dark when photo taken. Details of edge of expanded cap showing annulus remnants attached to edge.
278010
Details of another unopened button bottom. Annulus coglike? Some yellowing on highest points of the cogs, too.
278011
Details of another button cap. Fairly abundant in this area. Probably 40 or more sporocarps seen today. All quite large. Note the felt-like surface texture of the cap.
