Observation 115299: Gymnopus (Pers.) Roussel
When: 2012-11-01
No herbarium specimen

Notes: A mostly clumping fungus found at the base of a decorative birch tree. CAP medium brown to fawn-colored; each cap 1.5-3 inches wide. GILLS somewhat crowded, white, notched. STIPE: Pinches appearance, or with multiple stipes leading to same cap. Clump with mycelium adherring to the base. Does not appear to be growing from wood, but may be growing on bark mulch used extensively in the plantings here. Reminds me of Lyophyllum.
