Observation 115663: Scleroderma Pers.

When: 2012-11-03

Collection location: Ventura Park, Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)

No specimen available

This muddy little Scleroderma is too old for me to identify. The gleba may offer a clue, as it was tough/hard, and difficult to slice. Found covered in mud at the base of Quercus palustris.

Mud-covered flattened Scleroderma.
Tough/hard purple/black gleba already exposed when found.
Peridium already becoming supersaturated with water. Peridium thicker at base (top of photo).
