Collection location: Munster, Indiana, USA [Click for map]

Who: Sophia Raziuddin (sophrazi)

Specimen available

This fungus was found growing under pine trees on mulch. It may have already been dried a little by the sun at the time of collection. When a spore print was attempted on paper, it left a dark brown ink-like spot on the paper. The pileus was dark brown and approx 3.47cm in diameter. The surface was smooth. The gills were free and dark brown in color. The stipe was approx 5.50 cm in length and dark brown with black stripes. The mushroom smelled like henna.
