Else claims that this particular FB was taken from its host tree on the IUCN Bridgeoporus nobilissimus webpage.

with ;Handbook to Strategy I Fugal Species for the Northwest Forest Plan, which does not list your specimen, Noah. It was printed in October 1999. No listings for California at all for Bridgeoporus nobilissimus. But your specimen does seem to match the algal doormat descriptions for that species.

Has anyone been by to collect a portion of the fungus for starting a culture yet?
