Observation 116444: Panaeolus antillarum (Fr.) Dennis
When: 2012-11-11
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Habitat: i found this in cowshit in the semi tropical jungle. there
this was in Vilcabamba, Ecuador (south near the peru border)

Gills:
going black with time. holds a lot of water. rot very quickly

Stem:
beige pale without colar. can get quite long (15cm). seems hollow

Cap:
5-10cm diameter, the color resembles a cubanus. it is red/brown in the center and has a weird pattern. the rest is kind of white. it’s conical concave. it never seems to fully open to flat. (i find it looks quite sad)

Spore print color:
just black…

Bruising:
didn’t notice

Other information:
we actually ate this mushroom. it resembled the subcubanus that grow in the region but we eventually managed to make the difference between this one and a cubanus.
for the record: it doesn’t seem like it gets you high
