Notes: HABITAT open forest; SUBSTRATE siliceous rock; ASPECT mostly shaded; NOTES on siliceous rock in hardwood forest; THALLUS slightly ascending expanded tips, no cilia, powdery lip-shaped soralia under turned-up lobe tips, no discolorations, white to grayish-brownish without cortex below with lengthwise fibers over medulla, black squarrose pointed straight long rhizines along margins (but pointed strictly down and only rarely visible from above and always black except sometimes at very root), K+ yellow, C-, KC-; MEDULLA white, K+ yellow turning slowly slightly orangish, C-, KC-.
