HABITAT spruce-fir forest on high mountain peak; SUBSTRATE conifer bark; ASPECT mostly open; NOTES on mossy fir bark/limb; THALLUS very pale, K+ yellow, C-, KC-, granular soredia arising from pustules mostly at tips but sometimes from center of lobes or thallus, loosely attached with lobes curling downward in general; MEDULLA white everywhere, K-, C+ pink turning orange quickly and persisting orange, KC+ red turning quickly orange and persisting orange.
