Notes: HABITAT spruce-fir forest on high mountain peak; SUBSTRATE conifer bark; ASPECT mostly open; NOTES on fir bark; THALLUS compact shrubby, strongly inflated main branches, not darkening or brownish toward base, low papillate all over, long fibrils abundant to nearly absent, finely-isidiate soralia concentrated near the tips though some scattered isidia on main branches too; MEDULLA snow white, hollow and very lax, axis narrow, K+ yellow to deep red.
