HABITAT dry forest; NOTES on rocks a few hundred feet up slope in dry forest; THALLUS lobes 2-3mm wide and divided, appressed, black below in center to pale brown at edge, isidia (all over, swollen-finger-like, branched nearly immediately), lobules present in center, K-, C-, KC+y; MEDULLA white, K+ yellow slowly yellow-orange, C-, KC-.

X. conspersa has black lower surface but also has salazinic acid, X. plittii has dark brown lower surface and stictic acid.
