This species has the world record: one in the Smokies was over 2 feet in diameter. But Usnea longissima is the longest (a few meters?), and Ramalina menziesii has the fasted recorded growth (20 cm in one year?)

Some of these things were huge – dinner-plate size (not a “fish” story)
