Notes: Peridium staining redding or pinkish where bruised, torn or cut. Gleba grayish-brown, cap areolate (cracked), sometimes quite large. The first photo of this collection was nearly 5 inches across. While most of these specimens were quite fresh, at least 2 specimens were seen in grassy lawn areas which had either been stepped on and squashed, or had deteriorated naturally to a black gooey mess in situ.
